Cleansing, skincare, makeup removing, night routine

Hello Beauties,
This is a post that I had started some time ago now and I wanted to still post it because it is still somewhat relevant.
My night routine is always changing with life. When I’m working I tend to have a different cleansing routine to when I’m at home and don’t leave the house for the day.

So today I’m gonna chat to you about one of my older personal skincare/cleansing routines.

I’m sure you’ve all heard many times before that you should always cleanse your face and take your makeup off at the end of the day before going to sleep. You should never sleep with your makeup on, why? Well let me tell you why…

Our skin in covered in pores, your pores secrete sebum that helps protect skin, moisturise and removes dead skin cells and other irritants from our pores.
However if you have makeup on you are blocking the pores and not allowing the sebum to come through and then possibly helping start acne and clogged pores, which could also then lead to enlarged pores!! And take it from me… you do not want enlarged pores! They naastay!
Also during the night time is when your skin is repairing itself and if it’s covered in a layer of foundation it’s not going to be able to do that effectively.

Having worked in the beauty industry I always get asked the question, “why do I need to have a makeup remover and a cleanser? Can’t I just use one of them?”
Well ladies and gentleman that brings me to the rule of 2 step cleansing or double cleansing, there are many names for this process.
It is the process of removing the makeup on your face before and as well as using a cleansing product to cleanse skin.
If you are not removing makeup and dirt from your face then your other products are not going to work as effectively.
To get optimal value from your cleansers, serums, treatments, moisturisers etc. you need to first remove makeup dirt and any impurities on your face that you may have captured throughout the day, this can be done using a facial wipe, makeup remover on a cotton pad, makeup removing lotions, balms, creams or oils etc. Second step is to cleanse your face with any cleanser of your choice cream, gel, lotion, foaming, oil etc. there is endless options.

Anyway moving on I like to change up my skincare routine every now and then to try new products and new ways of cleansing my skin to find what works best for me.
This was my routine I use to follow. I’d do this every night, especially if I had been at work and had a full face of makeup on.

First off I like to make sure I have my hair up and out of my face because there is nothing more annoying when your trying to wash your face and your hair is getting stuck to you!

micellar To start removing my eye makeup I use Garnier Micellar water. Also one of my favourite products.

Soaking 2 cotton pads in it and then holding them onto my eyes for about 20 seconds to let the product soak in and lift the eye makeup. I then gently wipe any excess off of my eyes.

2If I have really heavy eye makeup I like to use Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, but I prefer the Micellar water.

I then use these smartskin facial cleansing wipes to remove as much makeup off of my face as I can.8
I then wet my face and massage my Garnier daily cleansing gel wash onto my face and then rinse my face off.1
Depending whether I feel I need it or not I will then sometimes use St. Ives apricot scrub.

It is an exfoliating scrub however I don’t recommend using it every day, about 2 times a week should be enough depending on your skin.
You should never exfoliate your skin every day, it is too much and too harsh for the skin. You can cause irritation to your skin or acne.

After I have finished cleansing I then soak a cotton pad in my Garnier daily pore reducing toner and wipe that over my face, focusing on my T-zone.

After I have removed my makeup and cleansed my face I then go ahead with applying my skincare products

I use Advanced Night Repair Serum all over my face

ANR eye

I then use Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum around my eye area

day wear
And then follow up with moisturiser. Moisturising for me is very important even if I skip my serums I always moisturise or my skin feels dry, tight and uncomfortable.
I either use Estee Lauder DayWear which is my favourite all time moisturiser.

6Or I use Cetaphil moisturising lotion.

I always finish up with some sort of lip balm/moisturiser which ever is closest at the time.
I get dry lips easily and I always feel more comfortable with lip balm on.

So this is what I have been doing as of recently and I find that it is working great for me and my skin.

Have you used any of these products? What do you think of them?
I would love to hear about your cleansing routine, leave me a comment below telling me what products you like to use.

Hope you all have a great day!

Estee Lauder Haul!

Hello Lovelies,
Hope you are all doing great!
Today I wanted to do a quick haul on some Estee Lauder products I purchased a couple weeks ago. I love Estee Lauder products and it has been one of my favourite ‘high end’ brands for quite some time now, we are talking a decent 7 years or so. I am that passionate about the brand that I now work for them also. My job requires me to wear a full face of Estee Lauder makeup, which I definitely have no problem at all with as I love the products. So this haul mainly includes some replenishing of main products I use for my daily face of makeup and a few skincare products that I had run out of.

So here is some of the products that I picked up,

daywear boxday wear

Day Wear Moisturiser creme Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme

This is my all time favourite moisturiser for my face, I use this morning and night. It has SPF 15. It smells amazing, has a slight cucumber scent. It is not heavy or greasy on your face and is really hydrating. I use this after applying Advanced Night Repair Serum over my face, the Hyaluronic acid helps the moisturiser to penetrate deeper into my skin.

ANR eye

Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum

Apart of the advanced night repair range this is a great product, helps to reduce the look off every key sign of aging around the eye area, such as fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, dryness and uneven skin tone.
I use this along with Advanced Night Repair Serum all over my face at night before moisturising.

foundation packagingfoundationfoundation colour

Double Wear Foundation Stay In Place Makeup

Double Wear is Estee Lauder’s most popular foundation and with good reason, it has 15 hour staying power which is great for long days at work as it doesn’t move at all. It has a beautiful natural flawless matte finish, with full coverage. However it doesn’t look cakey and is oil free. It also has SPF 10.
I wear the colour Ecru, which is in the intensity 1 because I’m so white with skin tone neutral.
Estee Lauder’s Double Wear comes in many shades with cool, neutral and warm skin tones to suit everyone’s different skin tones.
If you go into a counter I’m sure they will be more than happy to sit you down and colour match you so you get the correct foundation colour for you skin.

concealer packagingconcealer colourconcealer

Double Wear Liquid Concealer, Stay In Place Flawless wear Concealer

Estee Lauder have a ‘double wear’ range that is long wearing ‘stay-in-place’ makeup.
Estee Lauder do two concealers at the moment, one is this liquid concealer I use and the other is a cream compact one that gives a thicker fuller coverage.
I use the liquid concealer in 01 Light, because I’m still white! It doesn’t crease and stays all day!

blush packagingblush top

blushblush swatch

Pure Colour Blush in 02 Pink Kiss Satin

The packaging of this product is so classy and beautiful, it comes in a rectangle gold compact with the Estee Lauder symbol on it.
This colour gives a sheer natural glow it is buildable but I like to start with it light and build it up if I need. It is very blendable.

sumptous brush

Sumptuous Infinite, Daring Lenght + Volume Mascara

This is my ultimate mascara, my favourite, most used, most purchased mascara, i simply love it. I love the lenghth it gives and how it separates all my lashes making them appear much longer and fuller then they actually are. I also love that it doesn’t clump my lashes and I don’t get any fall out or flaking under my eyes. And it is easy to remove.

Double Wear Stay in Place Eye Pencil in Onyx (black)

Another one that is apart of the Double Wear range is this pencil eyeliner that I use everyday! It is so smooth and creamy which makes for easy application. It stays on all day.
And on the other end it has a smudger, which is great when you want to smooth things out or blend and smudge to create a smoky look.

tumultuous pink

Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Tumultuous Pink 240

Estee Lauder do a couple different lipsticks this one is from the Envy range which are a pure colour not matte but give strong pigmented colour. This one is 6 hour wear however I can sometimes get away with longer. It is very creamy which makes for easy smooth application. and it covers evenly and my lips feel moisturised when wearing it it doesn’t dry out my lips at all.
This one is not usually a colour I would generally go for but it is great for work to mix it up and add a darker but bright pink colour to my lipstick collection.

Pure Color Envy Shine Lipstick in Suggestive 220

Apart of the new Shine range of lipsticks it is a lighter pink lipstick similar to the Envy lipsticks however with more shine.

Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Desirable

I also got this lipstick and gloss pack,
A light pink with more of a nude look to it, beautiful creamy and moisturising.

Bronze goddess palettebronze goddess palette 2eyeshadow swatcheyeshadow swatch 2

Bronze Goddess The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

I literally have saved the best for last!
When I saw this come out in stores I knew I had to have it!
I love nudes and browns for my eyeshadows and that’s generally all I wear and these colours are perfect for me.
During the Summer season in America (winter in Australia) Estee Lauder releases a ‘Bronze Goddess’ range, It is a limited edition thing. Within the range they have the ultimate ‘summer’ collection (the smells and colours remind me of warm holidays by the beach *drools*) Bronzer, Illuminator/highlighter compact, blush stick, gel liquid bronzer, eyeshadow palette, perfume (that is to die for! smells amazing! current favouorite) a shimmering body oil and a perfumed body creme that smells similar to the perfume.
This palette has 5 nudes and 3 high intensity metallic shades they are all beautiful colours and they are all really blendable and long wearing. I personally find that the 3 high intensity colours are more pigmented then the other 5 but they all still go on great.

So apart of my job is to try the new products and see the results for myself and to educate myself so I know what I’m selling.
And we have had a few new releases and a heap more coming! Cannot wait!

Some of these products were given to me to try for myself.

New Dimension

New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum (not in stores yet)

This is a new serum that is yet to hit stores that I will be trying out.
After using this you’ll see more defined looking facial contours and cheeks and jawline are visibly more lifted. Skin will be more plumped and refined.

renutriv boxRenutriv

Re-Nutriv Ultimate Diamond Transformative Energy Creme

Re-nutriv is Estee Lauder’s ‘luxury’ range and this new product is the definition of luxury!
Starting with the packaging… I mean look at that packaging! I don’t even need to explain, it’s clearly luxurious with glass surrounding the gold that the product sits in. the glass creates a diamond look.
This creme is infused with Black Diamond Truffle Extract, one of natures rarest treasures. And is great for multiple signs of aging, lifting, contouring, loss of radiance, loss of firmness, tone, dryness and dehydration. However it comes at a price.

Le Rouge

Modern Muse Le Rouge Perfume (not in stores yet)

This new beautiful fragrance is now my new favourite.
It is a Fruity Floral Oriental scent
Following on from the original Modern Muse and Modern Muse Chic this is a beautiful sweet fragrance.

Well we have come to the end, I hope you enjoyed reading, I spent alot of time on this one as you can tell by the amount of photos etc.
It seems like a lot of products however I didn’t get them all at the same time, I have been gathering them in the last couple months and thought I would do it all in one big haul for you guys.
If you have gotten this far like this post for me so I know you read it! 🙂
I would love to hear if you have used any of these products and what your thoughts and opinions are on them, so leave a comment below and let me know.
Also if you would like me to do a more in depth review on any of these products let me know.

Have a wonderful day!

TAG – 40 Beauty question!

Hello everyone!

Thought I would do this tag to give you a bit of an insight into my world.
You might learn a few things about me through this.
And I tag all my readers to do this tag also.

How many times do you wash your face daily?
Usually once, in the morning. But it depends if I have been wearing makeup that day, if I have then I’ll wash it at night to get rid of the makeup.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Combination skin, dry around the mouth/chin and middle of forehead and oily everywhere else. With extra oil on my nose! 😦

What is your current facial wash?
Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser

Do you exfoliate?
My face? Yes, I will exfoliate my face about every 2 weeks. The rest of my body? I don’t do often enough, I need to start exfoliating my legs more, that’s something I will be doing more of over the summer.

What brand do you use?
I make my own face exfoliator with sugar, oil and salt. (I know sounds nasty, but it isn’t)

What moisturizer do you use?
Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion

Do you have freckles?
Yes, just a few

Do you use eye cream?
Yes, I use Estee Lauder intensive age renewal eye crème, I have also used other Estee Lauder eye creams before this one.
Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I wouldn’t exactly say I have acne! But I do get the occasional pimple here and there. But I don’t get as many as I use to when I was younger. It’s never really been an issue for me.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?

What foundation do you use?
It depends what I’m doing for the day, the makeup look I’m going for and how much coverage I’m after, I change between 3 different foundations.
For a thick coverage I will use Revlon Age defying (not that I really need to defy age just yet)
For a lighter coverage I will use Face of Australia Lasting looks natural foundation
And if I’m just after a quick light foundation I will use a powder, Face of Australia mineral therapy foundation.

How about concealer?
I will use either the Essence cover stick or Estee Lauder double wear stay-in-place concealer

Do you know your undertone color?

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I don’t really like them, I prefer not to use them, they irritate my eyes and I find it difficult to put them on.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes. All makeup has a use by date.

What brand of mascara do you use?
I use lots of mascaras, depending on the look I am going for.
But I usually stick with my Clinique high lengths mascara it is the weirdest brush I have ever seen! With only one row of bristles but it is the best mascara I have ever used! It’s just amazing.
I have also been using Essence I heart Extreme crazy volume mascara a lot lately.

Sephora or MAC?
I’m not sure as I have never been to Sephora and don’t own any mac makeup

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Makeup brushes. Beauty Pod sponge, tissues.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes sometimes, I use the bh cosmetics eye primer.

For the face?
Not usually but I have recently tried face base primer from Australis and am loving it, but I only wear it occasionally.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Oh really!? I have a lot of favourites but I generally love using browns/gold/bronze colours or neutral shades

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I don’t often wear eyeliner at all because I suck at applying it but if I do wear it it’s usually pencil.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Very often!! I love this question, because I am terrible with this, I don’t know how I manage to do it all the time 😦

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I haven’t really used many to form an opinion yet, but I think they are harder to use.

Do you use mineral makeup?
Yes, refer to what foundations I use.

What is your favorite lipstick?
I have a few favourites, but at the moment I’m loving Avon’s ‘kiss me pink’ N06 from their totally kissable line.

How about lipgloss?
I love Lancôme Juicy tubes!

What is your favorite blush to use?
I don’t often wear a blush but when I do I always go for the same one Estee Lauder 01 Petal

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?

Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yes! I usually always buy drugstore makeups.
I like high end products also though.

Do you go to CCO’s? (cosmetic company outlets)

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes, I want to do a diploma of beauty therapy and learn all the ins and outs of makeup.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
Sometimes I can be.

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Really!? I have so many 😐
Badly drawn on or filled in brows, foundation that stops at the bottom of chin and doesn’t blend into neck, over lined lip liner, bright colours that look tacky and don’t match, bad bronzer, orange fake tan on the face,

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I like neutral more but I like coulourful shades if done properly and they work together.

Which celebrity always has great make up?
I love Kim Kardashians makeup look, it’s always neutral, nude colours.

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
lipgloss or mascara I don’t know
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, I always go out without makeup, as I mentioned earlier I don’t always wear makeup.
I will usually go out with only moisturiser on my face and pawpaw ointment on my lips 🙂

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I think so? Natural beauty? I don’t feel like I need to put makeup on to make myself pretty or look good.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Oh that’s very hard.
Maybe Estee Lauder, probably because most of my products are from Estee Lauder, and I genuinely think they have great products.
I also like Avon for their lipsticks though and I like FOA for their foundations… I can’t choose just one!! D;

Makeup Brushes

Today is a post on the makeup brushes I have, and the ones I use frequently.
My makeup brushes are from M.A.C, Napoleon Perdis and Estee Lauder
I had always wanted makeup brushes for years and then I finally got these, I have had them for about 3 years but don’t always use them as I don’t always wear makeup.

These are the ones I use frequently whenever applying makeup

Foundation and concealer –

This is my love!!!
Beauty Pod! This is a cheaper version of the ‘Beauty Blender’ it is cheaper and works the exact same as the beauty blender.
If you don’t have one of these you need to go buy one, right now!
I swear by this little sponge, it’s amazing! BEST thing I have ever used!
It gives your foundation/concealer an absolutely flawless air brush finish, every time!
It’s easy to use, and easy to clean and is just an all round amazing product.
I use the larger rounded end for applying foundation and I use the pointed end for getting into those hard to reach spots, such as around eyes and sides of nose etc.

Blush, bronzer, contouring and mineral foundation –
These two brushes aren’t M.A.C brushes

I use the Angled contouring brush for exactly that, contouring.
And I use the Powder brush for mineral powder foundation and blush.

Eyeshadow –

I use all these brushes for applying eyeshadow.

Eyeliner –

I use either of these brushes to apply eyeliner and to smudge/blend.

Lashes and Brows –

If you would like any info specifically on the brushes I have posted, or any of the other brushes in my kit that I don’t use frequently then leave me a comment and I will gladly get back to you.

What brushes do you like to use ?
** I would like to apologies for the terrible quality of the photos **

Face masks!

I’m really into face masks at the moment. And have been searching for the right one perfect for me!
And the other day I was in the mood for a little pampering and decided I would use a face mask/scrub from a packet to give my face a little loving. I have only ever used a mask like this from a packet once before and it burnt my face! They say that the burning sensation is the mask working to remove all the dirt and impurities from your skin, I guess I had a lot to clean! However the mask didn’t last long, I washed it straight off and the rest went into the bin…
I have been rather cautious about trying another.
However this mask I put on the other day wasn’t as painful, infact there was no pain at all.
I guess maybe my face was cleaner this time round?
Anyway I spread the mask onto my face using a circular motion and then just left it on for a few minutes before washing it off.

Scary/ugly photo ahead!

I then used my usual Cetaphil moisturiser on my face and I tried this Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Eye cream around my eye area.

The mask left my face smelling great! Like coconuts. Except it felt very sticky and looked a bit oily and shiny on my face, this lasted the whole day, after washing my face twice.
I didn’t really like the feel during use or after enough to repurchase this exact scrub however I would be open to trying other flavoured masks by ‘montagne jeunesse’
The Estee Lauder eye cream left the skin around my eyes shiny/glossy and I didn’t particularly like the feel of it, I could feel there was something on my eyes and it didn’t seem to soak into the skin or anything.

Has any one tried these masks or scrubs in packets?

I would love to try a mud mask. If anyone has any suggestions of any good ones?
Or anything they have tried, I’d love to hear about them.

I am going to be sampling the ‘Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask from the body shop in the next coming week so stay tuned for that.

Makeup removing routine

Makeup removing routine

It’s important to remove your makeup after every day of use.
Leaving makeup on when you go to sleep at the end of the day can create problems for your skin, it can block your pores and cause pimples and no one wants pimples!! D:

These are the products I use to remove my makeup –

First I use the facial cleansing wipes, I prefer the scented one (green packet)
However the blue packet is unscented for anyone who prefers (fragrance free)
I purchase them from Woolworths,
Every couple of months they have them on sale, for 2 for $3.

I then use a clean facial wipe and use Estee Lauder’s ‘Gentle eye makeup remover’

And then I finish off with Estee Lauder’s ‘perfectly clean splash away foaming cleanser’

Then I usually just pat my face dry with a clean towel or paper towel.

I don’t wear makeup every day so I don’t have a big face cleaning routine, I don’t use too many products, but these are the things that work for me and I definitely recommend them.

Tip: Lot’s of beauty experts don’t recommend using baby wipes to remove makeup, as it doesn’t have the same ability to clean your face as it’s made to clean baby’s bottom.

So don’t forget to clean your face before you go to sleep!
