Beauty hacks, tips and tricks

Hello beauties,

Today I’m going to share some of my favourite beauty hacks, or you could call them tips and tricks.

Those who know me well know that I am obsessed with ‘hacks’! Life hacks, beauty hacks, cleaning/organization hacks you name it I’ve probably tried them all!
I will happily sit for hours and watch hacks videos on YouTube, well.. because I have no life obviously… There is just something so entertaining about them.
So without further rambling, lets get onto it…..

Using baby powder for oily hair instead of dry shampoo

Now I definitely love me a good dry shampoo however this is a goody and an oldy that I have been doing since school days (that’s a long time ago for those wondering) well and truly before ‘dry shampoos’ were even a thing.
The tip with this one is to put the powder onto a brush and brush it through your hair.
You want to make sure you don’t have any visible powder anywhere on your head of course. And don’t use too much you don’t want to look like you are going grey!

Drying nails under cold running water

to use
When I first started doing this I hadn’t read about it anywhere I was just in a rush one day and thought why not try drying them in cold water.
This hack is obviously great for those people like myself that do not have the patients to sit around and wait for nails to dry and even when I do spend the extra time drying I still always manage to knock them on something and ruin all that hard work!

Hairspray on a spooly to tame and set brows in place

Now you could just use a brow gel or something along those lines but when your all out or want to try something else then this one works great.
Using a clean spooly (which you can buy in bulk at most drug stores/pharmacies) spray some hair spray onto the spooly and then comb through your eyebrows, style them the way you want and they should be good to stay like that all day long.

Line your waterline with a white eyeliner to make your eyes appear bigger and brighter

Using a white eyeliner in your waterline can create the illusion of bigger eyes, just as using black eyeliner on the bottom waterline can close your eyes in and make them look smaller. So try accentuating your eyes with this hack

Clean your makeup brushes often

Okay so this tip really is a no brainer but I myself cannot even take this tip on board, I definitely do clean my brushes… but often? Nope! Just being honest!
I clean my brushes when I notice they need washing this could be around every 2 to 3 months. However I don’t use my brushes daily.
One of the main reasons you should clean your makeup brushes is they harbor bacteria and then you go and use that brush and wipe it all over your face! And that ladies and gentlemen is how you get breakouts! So go get cleaning!!

Fixing broken makeup with rubbing alcohol

Now this one I have not yet tried but have been meaning to do so. I have a broken eyeshadow that I want to save. And I think this is an awesome trick to save any powder product that could crack and break.
The idea is to break your product up into a fine powder and then add some rubbing alcohol and press back into container and let it dry. I am going to attempt this myself one day soon and will make a post on it so stay tuned for that one.

Well that’s it for my favourite beauty hacks, hope you enjoyed the read and even try some out yourself, if you do let me know in the comments or if you use these hacks already let me know.
If you have any other great hacks I’d love you to share them with me in the comments, I’m always on the lookout for more hacks!

‘Lust Have It’ Unboxing/Review September and October 2015

Hello Beauties!

So my life has been fairly hectic lately, amongst working hard with Christmas coming up, moving house and personal/family stuff going on I have not found time to get my posts up in time 😦 I’m sorry for being a bad blogger xx

So this post as you can guess from the title is going to be a combined September and October lust have it unboxing review.
Because I should have my November box by next week… hopefully.

So on with the first one….

This months box came with a black mesh zip up bag, something a little different. However mine was broken and has a tear down the side 😦
I’m not jumping with joy over this bag this month as I have received doubles and some of the products just didn’t work for me.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lust Have It, It is a monthly subscription box with 5-6 deluxe sized beauty items and sometimes full size products. Priced at $19.95 a month including postage and handling.

Designer Brands, Twist n Go. RRP $4.99. Full size.

I have already received one of these in a previous box. It does work well if I want to quickly remove my nail polish without putting remover onto a cotton ball.
However make sure you never let it tip on the side as it will leak everywhere and the smell is impossible to get rid of :/

White Glo, Proffesional Choice toothpaste, 24g. RRP $5.49. Sample size.

Toothpaste…. The whole cosmetics/makeup that Lust Have It is supposed to have seems to be getting few and far between 😦
I guess it’s good that its whitening toothpaste but it’s not really going to help people with discoloured teeth they are better off going to get it professionally done.

Your Tea, skin magic tea, 1 tea bag. RRP $35 USD. Sample.

Got this magic skin tea and to be honest I have no idea what it does apart from being a tea to drink because when I went on their website they had no information on this tea and the benefits of it ? Plus they don’t have anything in stock of any of their teas or teaware.
It also says on the info card that I should have received 6 tea bags however cannot find the other 5 :/

Ofra, Lip Liner Wine. RRP $19.50. Full size.

To be honest I would be annoyed if I had paid almost $20 for this lip liner. I saw the name of the colour (wine) and got excited because I’m really into dark red/plum/wine colours at the moment but when I saw it I realised how light it is, I swatched it and was disappointed that it came out a more nude/brown colour.
I then put it on my lips, at first it didn’t go on it was so dry it pulled across my lips and was like dried chalk, just wasn’t working.
As you can see from the photo below the colour on my lips is not very dark and wine like at all it is more of a nude shade.

Kerastase, shampoo and hair masque. RRP $42 (shampoo) $62 (masque). Sample.

I will eventually try this shampoo and Conditioner after I finish the other Kerastase hair products I have received. Have heard that Kerastase is a good brand for hair products.

UB Cosmetics, Tint Stick. RRP $23.00. Full size.

I swatched this and it is nice for a light pink stain to your lips however is slightly drying, but the colour definitely stayed.

Came with a pink mesh zip up bag.
When I opened this one I was rather excited as there were a couple good products I was interested in.
Unfortunately this months box didn’t include the info card 😦 but I have managed to track down the info for you anyway.

Hair & Me hair rejuvenation treatment. RRP $19.95. Full size.

I have not heard of this brand before but am always willing to try hair treatments.

Flormar nail polish. RRP $12. Full size.

I got excited for the nail polish because a girl can never have enough nail polishes right!?
I got the colour 228 it is a dark maroon/purple colour? something I would definitely use especially on my tootsies as I love dark colours on my toes.
I have not tried it yet so I don’t know how the quality is but fingers crossed it’s good.

Bioderma Sensibo light. RRP $32.99 full size 40ml. Sample size.

According the bioderma website this is a daily moisturising and protecting treatment for sensitive skin that increases the tolerance threshold.
I always like to try new moisturisers and the small sample sizes are perfect for trips away from home. Will definitely try this moisturiser.

Flormar eyeliner pencil. RRP $19.95. Full size.

Slightly disappointed with this product as I got the colour green… a colour I would never wear or ever be able to pull off with my skin tone and eye colour.

Lust Have It Highlighter compact. RRP $29.95. Full size, Exclusive.

When I saw this I was super excited. I am really into highlighters at the moment and am obsessing over theBalm’s Marylou Manizer and my new BH cosmetics highlighters I recently got.
When I saw this I instantly thought it looks just like Marylou manizer and was so excited to try and when I swatched it was fairly happy with the result. The next day I put it on with my work makeup and was sadly very disappointed… I could not see it at all! I don’t know what happened to the shine and glow but it was just not there and I tried looking in many different lights.
I haven’t bothered using it since.

Atkins chocolate candies. RRP $9.00 in 5 pack box. Bonus.

Yes you read that correctly I got candy in a beauty subscription box, they must have run out of makeup…….
Even worse it’s ‘diet’ ‘low carb’ chocolate 😦

Your Tea, skin magic tea, 1 tea bag. RRP $35 USD. Sample.

Same as my september box I received only 1 teabag and am still missing the other 4? Maybe they are going to give me one each month. (my subscription’s almost finished) I’ll only end up with 3 tea bags lol.

That brings me to the end of my 2 lust have it unboxing’s. As usual, if you have any questions or opinions/personal experiences with any of these products or would like a review on any specific products let me know, I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

‘Lust Have It’ Unboxing/Review July 2015

Hello Beauties!

You know it’s that time of the month…  Nooo guys not that time of the month!!!
My lust Have It box has arrived!  What did you think I was talking about!
This month it arrived in a pink mesh zip up bag again, yaaay! My whinging about the dreaded cardboard box that I couldn’t re-use has finally paid off and the bags are back, hopefully for more than one box.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lust Have It, It is a monthly subscription box with 5-6 deluxe sized beauty items and sometimes full size products. Priced at $19.95 a month including postage and handling.

Lets get into it….

Be a Bombshell, the one stick. RRP $24.00. Full size.

We had a choice of 2 colours to choose from with this product, I got mine in the colour flustered. It’s a pinky red colour.
It is an all in one stick that you can use on eyelids, cheeks or lips. It does have a nice smooth creamy texture but I don’t know how it would go on cheeks as a blush as it is slightly hard to blend it out and I don’t think I would ever use a redish colour on my eyes either.

Be a Bombshell, Lip Gloss. RRP $21.00. Full size.
Colour ‘Taupeless’

So I tried this lip gloss as a swatch on my wrist and then on my lips and I am not a fan.
It is very thick and gluggy texture and extremely sticky to the point it felt like tacky glue and my lips kinda stuck together on occasions. I understand that shiny lip glosses are generally sticky and tacky on the lips but I’ve not experienced it this bad.
However it definitely stuck on there!  An hour after taking it off I could still feel it sticking my lips together 😦
I’m also not a massive fan of the colour it isn’t a colour I would personally go out and choose for a lip gloss. It was like a orangey nude on my lips.

Hikari Eyeshadow quad. RRP $22.50. Full size.

This eyeshadow quad is nice, I like the colours however I have never worn a green eyeshadow like that one before so I don’t know how much use that colour will get but the others are great, I usually always go towards browns natural nudes for my eyeshadow.
They are highly pigmented and seemed easy to blend out.

Paula’s Choice Resist wrinkle-repair Retinol Serum, 7ml Deluxe sample size.
RRP $52.00, 30ml.

I have tried a few Paula’s Choice products now and they are good, this is a serum for the night to help repair smooth wrinkles, firm skin, and softens fine lines so skin of any age looks and acts younger. I personally don’t have any lines and wrinkles to worry about yet but I’m sure it will be a great product to try in the future.

Racinne Gentle Refining Scrub. RRP $2400. Full size.

I have not heard of this brand before but am excited to try this scrub. It is said to slough off dead skin cells and impurities. Replenish the skins moisture barrier revealing a smoother brighter complexion.

Garnier Fructis Full and Luscious shampoo and Conditioner, 10ml sample bonus.
RRP $5.95, 250ml.

I also got a small sample of the new F’n’L shampoo and conditioner to try.
Garnier Fructis claim that it gives visibly fuller, thicker hair with an extra soft weightless finish.

Overall this months box didn’t exactly have me that excited to try all the products like previous ones have, my personal opinion… I was slightly disappointed.
But I finally got the pink mesh bag again so that it a positive.

If you have any questions or opinions/personal experiences with any of these products or would like a review on any specific products let me know, I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

‘Lust Have It’ Unboxing/Review June 2015

Hello Beauties!

So we are finally back to normal shipping with Lust Have It, yay!
I got my June Lust Have It box the other day and it looks pretty good.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lust Have It, It is a monthly subscription box with 5-6 deluxe sized beauty items and sometimes full size products. Priced at $19.95 a month including postage and handling.

This is what came in June’s Lust Have It box. Everything was a full size product!

So unfortunately this is the packaging it now comes in… which I am slightly disappointed with as I loved the pink mesh zip bags and now I get a paper gift box and scrunched paper 😦

The Cosmetic Kitchen Wake up body scrub, 60g. RRP $29.95. Full size.

I just have to start off by saying I have not yet tried a body scrub! ;o
Body scrubs recently became very popular with the Frank Body coffee scrub that was on trend a couple months ago. I am excited to give this body scrub a go as I would love to have nice exfoliated soft skin all over my body. Would be a lovely way to relax after a busy day. I also like that it is actual natural products like raw sugar that you are rubbing onto your skin, that’s gotta be good right!?
This scrub contains some natural ingredients like raw sugar, organic coffee, salt, pink Australian organic clay and bergamont.

The Cosmetic Kitchen Peppermint Foot Mask, 50g. RRP $24.95. Full size.

A foot mask sounds unusual? I wouldn’t generally think to get a mask for anything other then face or hair but I guess if it’s going to make my feet soft and smooth and relaxed and at ease then I’ll do it. Especially after standing on my feet all day at work, coming home to a foot mask might be just what I have needed in my life.
I have previously received a few products from The Cosmetic Kitchen and I love that their products are natural handmade in Australia.
This peppermint foot mask contains organic clay, peppermint essential oil and lemon scented tea tree oil. And to use it you add a teaspoon to coconut oil and water and make a paste.

NAK Thermal Shield, 150g. RRP $25.95. Full size.

This is as it says a heat protectant shield, to help keep your hair from being damaged by heat styling tools like hair straighteners.
I have been looking for a good heat protectant for a while now to try out so I am glad I got this. I don’t often straighten my already straight hair but I sometimes like to curl it but not as often as I should. And I am always concerned that I may burn my hair and end up with bad split ends and wire like hair if I do always use heat tools and never use a heat protectant, so this will go to good use 🙂

6 7

Chapstick Hydration lock. RRP $4.99. Full size.

So if you read my blog you will know I have a slight problem with collecting an unreasonable amount of lip glosses and chapsticks…
And Chapstick is one of my favourite brands! So I’m super excited to try out this because it is a dual action and I always get dry lips so any extra moisture and hydration is great.
It is nice and smooth on the lips but it has a slightly funny unusual taste which I am not a massive fan of, but I’m sure I’ll get use to it as it’s not that strong.

8  9101112  13

Teeez Trendy Cosmetics Eves ready to wear lipstick, Rebellious Red. RRP $32.00. Full size.

This month Lust Have It sent out an email with the option to choose what colour lipstick you wanted from Teeez Trendy Cosmetics range of ‘eve’s ready to wear lipsticks’, there was 3 choices of nude, caramel and red.
As you can see in the picture I chose red, which was an unusual decision for me as I usually stick with nudes and natural colours to not draw attention towards myself.
But I thought I would go for something I don’t usually choose, so red it was.
And I am happy with my choice of red because when I tried it on it looked amazing, actually delicious!
It’s so vibrant and bright and the texture is beautiful it is so creamy and smooth and it glided onto my lips with ease. It is so hydrating which is so surprising for a lipstick.
However on their website they do state that you will “Fall in love with the lipstick’s rich formula, which nourishes, hydrates and repairs cracked or dry lips thanks to the specially added wild mango” and exactly that happened!! I love the texture and that it helps to repair cracked/dry lips.
Not to mention the amazing packaging!! I have taken a photo of each side of the lipstick cover to show you guys, is that not the most creative packaging you have ever seen!?
I love it! So bright.

(unfortunately the lighting wasn’t the best to capture a true to colour image)

Overall I really liked this months box, it had all full sized products in it and I am happy I will be able to get use out of the products.
However I still want my pink mesh bag it comes in and not a cardboard gift box. Hopefully they are working on this and planning on coming out with an amazing new baggy I can add to my collection of makeup bags.

If you have any questions or opinions/personal experiences with any of these products or would like a review on any specific products let me know, I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

‘Lust Have It’ Unboxing/Review May 2015

Hello Lovelies!

I got my May Lust Have It box a couple weeks ago. I am finally catching up with everything and doing my review. The team at LHI have skipped the box for April to try and catch up on the shipping problems they were having, however my May box did come very late in may (infact I think it was early June)
Again this months box arrived in a cardboard gift box instead of the usual pink mesh zip up bag. However I was pleased to see that they had provided the info card this time.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lust Have It, It is a monthly subscription box with 5-6 deluxe sized beauty items and sometimes full size products. Priced at $19.95 a month including postage and handling.

Lonvitalite 24K active face mask. RRP $9.95. Full size.

I am interested to try this mask as the benefits of hydrating and smoothing out skin are something every girl wants, am I right!?
I love having healthy smooth skin 🙂
Plus I’m still yet to try a full piece mask, they look cool.

Coconut Revolution hand cream, 10g, sample size.
Full size 150ml RRP $19.95.

I don’t know much about this brand but this smells amazing! I can even smell it through the plastic bottle. I am always looking for a nice hand cream to hydrate and soften my hands because they are always drying out from working with makeup all day and constantly washing them. So I am excited to try this.

Soak Superfood Skincare shampoo, conditioner and body lotion 25mls deluxe sample size.
Full size shampoo and conditioner 500ml RRP $24.95.
Full size body lotion 500ml RRP $29.95.

I haven’t heard of this brand before but I’m interested to try. All the products are infused with natural ingredients.
The body lotion is infused with chia seeds, the shampoo is infused with purple Kale and the conditioner is infused with Maca root.
They all smell lovely.

5  6

Hola Seaweed moisturising lotion, 150ml. RRP $17.95 – $24.95. Full size.

I really like the packaging of this product the lid is very cute.
I also like that it has the benefits of seaweed.
I have been using it for the last couple days and it is a beautiful product, It’s a nice light lotion with a beautiful scent and makes my skin soft and smooth without feeling greasy or like I have cream on. Plus my skin feels much more hydrated after use.
I am excited to use this lotion more in the future to see the benefits really come through.
8 9

Bloom liquid foundation brush. RRP $35.00. Full size.

Lust Have It sent out an email before the boxes were shipped so we could choose if we wanted the Bloom foundation brush or the foundation stick. It just so happened that on that specific week my other foundation brush that I use every day had starting loosing a lot of it’s bristles and was falling out everywhere and loosing it’s shape and just needed to be replaced asap and I was on the hunt for a new foundation brush. So this couldn’t have come at a better time for me, I obviously chose the brush!
The bristles are so soft! It’s nice to use. However I have only used it a few times since receiving it.

Overall this was a good LHI box, I will get good use out of most of the products which is great, however it would still be nice to see a couple different products coming through because I’m getting quite the collection of Lonvitalite Masks.
I am also slightly disappointed that I didn’t get the little mesh bag that the products usually come in but hopefully they will be continuing them in the next month to come.

If you have any questions or opinions/personal experiences with any of these products or would like a review on any specific products let me know, I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

‘Lust Have It’ Unboxing/Review March 2015

Hello Beauties!

Sorry for the late post on this review, I received this about 2 months after March as all the lust have it boxes have been previously delayed and they are still trying to catch up. However they skipped the April box and went straight to May in order to get back up to date with shipping, which I will be reviewing soon!

So this months box arrived in a cardboard black gift box instead of the usual pink mesh zip up bag, which was slightly disappointing because I enjoy the bags. They also forgot to add the card with all the information about the products, where to buy and prices, which was also disappointing, I like to have that info.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lust Have It,
It is a monthly subscription box with 5-6 deluxe sized beauty items and sometimes full size products. Priced at $19.95 a month including postage and handling.

Lonvitalite C4 Coconut milk face mask. RRP $9.95. Full size.

I am still yet to try these amazing masks that I have heard so much about, however I’m getting quite the collection as I am always receiving them in beauty boxes.
I am also still yet to try a full piece mask/peel off mask, so I am excited to try it. Plus it’s a hydrating one and I can always benefit from more hydration for my skin.

Appelles Hair care duo pack, 35ml, Deluxe sample size.
Full size 500ml RRP $68.09.

I have had a few other products by Appelles previously and they are nice. The scent of these hair care products is amazing! The conditioner has a really calming smell and I love that they are made with aromatherapy scents like rosemary and ylang ylang. I can’t wait to try them out.

Urban Skincare Co Body Cleanser, 35ml, deluxe sample size.
Full size 500ml RRP $26.95.

Haven’t used this one yet as I’m currently trying another cleanser however am interested by this as it doesn’t say ‘face’ cleanser it’s a ‘body’ cleanser.  I also like the unusual scent.

6 7

Uriage Tolederm soothing cleansing water 8ml and Tolederm hydra-soothing cream 3ml, sample size.
Full size RRP 250ml cleansing water $29.95 and 30ml cream $39.95.

I have heard about this brand Uriage a bit lately however this will be my first time trying it. It is directed more for people with sensitive skin to help calm the skin from irritation. I love cleansing waters so I will be interested to try that out. Although the samples are very small I may struggle to properly test and form an opinion.

8 9

Model Co BB plus cream (medium). RRP $22.00. Full size.

I love BB creams as they are great for me on my days off of work if I still want to wear some makeup, and I love anything that has hydrating properties. I unfortunately got mine in the shade medium which is never my shade, even in summer when I’m tanned I am still not this dark 😦 #whitegirlproblems.

Overall I wish I could say I’m happy with this months box… But I’m not.
Some of the brands, Lonvitalite masks, appelles and urban skincare brands keep popping up in beauty boxes. It would be good to start seeing some different things in the boxes including makeup.

If you have any questions or opinions/personal experiences with any of these products or would like a review, I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

Hello Beauties!

So a while ago I found this beauty box here in Australia called Bellabox!

If you are not familiar with beauty boxes let me give you a quick run down…
It is a beauty subscription box that you receive in the mail once a month full of sample sized goodies, sounds amazing right? It is!
Every month they give you either 4 – 6 products that are new to the market, highly recommended, classic products or up and coming products, all for $15 a month.

It gets delivered straight to your door which is exciting to come home to and you get a surprise box of fun new beauty products to try out before going and purchasing the full product.

They are a great gift idea aswell!
